Legal Counsel/Senior Counsel - Sanctions/Trade Control - Based London or The Hague
We are supporting a leading global energy company with their search for a bright lawyer with solid Trade Control and Sanctions experience to join the compliance and ethics arm of their respected legal team. It is a mid or a senior level role and can be based either in London or the Netherlands.
Working alongside other specialist lawyers, your role will be to: advise and guide the business on the interpretation and practical application of international Export Control and International Trade Sanctions laws and regulations (EU predominantly but also as appropriate US/other regimes); support the business in the evaluation of export compliance risks; support the establishment / maintenance of compliance strategies and the development / implementation of trade control compliance programs; stay abreast of regulatory changes and work to ensure the adoption of best practice; interface with government agencies on key export control and sanctions issues; manage outside counsel; and to provide internal training.
You should have a sharp legal mind, a proven track record of providing practical advice on trade control and sanctions matters and be comfortable advising on such issues independently.
