Sourcing a General Counsel for one of the leading European Corporations

We were contacted following a recommendation by one of the leading European Corporations after they had conducted an unsuccessful search through a major Search firm.

The company wished to appoint a General Counsel with local knowledge and global experience able to head a 200+ lawyer department. This was a highly sensitive appointment.

Following preliminary discussions, we met with the key decision makers, obtained a detailed brief, agreed procedures/off-limits lists and the terms for our appointment.

After an intensive period of research concentrating on the US, European and Asian markets, we identified a pool of potentially suitable candidates working in a range of jurisdictions.

Targeted headhunts were made to a number of these prospects and those assessed as appropriate were then interviewed and assessed by us. The identity of our client was only disclosed to client-approved candidates at the final stage.

After considering detailed assessments, our client chose to meet with six candidates and following salary negotiations and references checks, a successful appointment was made.

The recruit went on to greatly raise the profile of the legal team.

Sourcing a divisional Head of Legal Services for an Oil/Gas Major.

An existing client contacted us following a restructuring exercise. Our brief was to Search for a highly experienced upstream oil/gas specialist with proven management skills to take responsibility for a 15+ lawyer department.

The needs of our client were thoroughly assessed, key decision makers met, procedures, off-limits lists and terms of appointment discussed and a project proposal submitted and approved.

This was a key and highly specialist appointment and we conducted our search on a global basis. Extensive research and networking led to the identification of a pool of target candidates for closer consideration.

Targets were then approached and where appropriate, the opportunity presented. More detailed face-to-face assessments then took place following which we were able to present the client with a strong shortlist.

Having interviewed the majority of the shortlist, our client was quickly able to make a highly successful appointment.
