Sourcing a Team of Senior Projects Lawyers for an Energy Major

We were contacted by a pre-existing client and were asked to propose a recruitment solution in view of the impending international relocation of a major business division. The relocation resulted in the need for the client to recruit a range of scarce senior level LNG/projects specialists.

These were critical roles requiring lawyers of the highest calibre able to provide immediate support on multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects globally.

We conducted a careful analysis of the market and of our clients needs. The pool of potential “ideal” candidates was very small and globally dispersed. We proposed a combined international Search and Advertising campaign and this was accepted to be the most effective solution.

Having agreed procedures, off-limits lists and terms of appointment we then kicked off an extensive global Search identifying and targeting appropriate candidates whilst at the same time conducting a comprehensive press and web based advertising campaign.

A wide range of candidates identified through research, headhunting, advertising, networking and our database were carefully assessed and distilled to a twenty lawyer “shortlist” (there were a range of roles) which was submitted to our Client with full reports on the individuals.

The majority of these were interviewed and following rigorous assessment, the client made several appointments. Despite being extremely challenging, this was a highly successful assignment and through an integrated approach we were able to help ensure that all of those appointed matched the client’s ideal specification.

Sourcing a General Counsel for a Life Science Company

We were invited to pitch for the business of a fast growing Life Science company that was seeking to appoint a General Counsel.

This was a new senior level role for a Life Science company’s lawyer with a strong scientific background. After an extensive briefing, our proposal to the client was that a combined Search and Advertising approach was the most appropriate and likely to produce the best results.

Our proposal was accepted and having assisted the client in defining the role, agreed procedures, off-limits lists and terms of appointment we were instructed to proceed.

Appealing adverts were drafted and placed in a range of legal publications and we identified a range of potentially suitable candidates through in-depth research, who were then approached and the opportunity presented to them.

Both our search and the adverts produced similar numbers of potentially suitable candidates. These were all carefully assessed and from this wider pool of candidates, our client was able to consider a strong shortlist.

A candidate closely matching the client’s ideal specification was appointed and was quickly able to make a significant contribution to the development of the business.
